YOUR PRINTER CAN DO MORE THAN YOU THINK

What is a block poster?

A block poster is one large image printed across a grid of ordinary sheets. Trim and join the pages to make a display without a wide-format printer. PosterSheet gives you one PDF in reading order.

Paper, margins, and overlap determine the finished canvas size. Your whole image fits inside, with white space when proportions differ. Our free photo splitter also lets you preview each page.

Where will your block poster go?

Classroom displays

Turn a map, reading chart, or student illustration into a block poster for your classroom wall. Measure the display board first, then choose a grid that leaves room for labels and borders. Use an image with large lettering so pupils can read it from their seats. Print one sheet to check text clarity before committing to the full set of pages.

Party and event backdrops

Build a party backdrop from a birthday illustration, welcome sign, or event graphic you already have. A wider grid can fit behind a cake table; a taller one suits an entrance. Keep names and dates large enough to read in photos. Assemble the sheets on a flat surface, tape the back, and test the finished size at the venue before guests arrive.

Wall art at home

Make a block poster from a landscape photo, drawing, or family picture for a wall at home. Check the available width above your desk or sofa before choosing the grid. Use the original image file instead of a screenshot to preserve detail. Lay the sheets on the floor to check the composition, then mount the joined poster with fixings suitable for your wall.

A LITTLE KNOW-HOW GOES A LONG WAY

Plan it. Print it. Love it.

How big will your block poster be?

Grid means columns × rows. These finished canvas sizes use portrait sheets, 7 mm margins, and 10 mm overlap. Measure your wall before choosing a grid.

Width × height after trimming and joining; rounded to 0.1 cm. Counts exclude the optional A4 assembly guide. Different settings change the dimensions.

Block posters, Rasterbator, or wide-format prints?

A block poster is a tiled result; Rasterbator is another tool that makes one. Choose by the finish you need.

PosterSheet block posters keep your image without added effects and provide margins, overlap, and a PDF for ordinary paper. You trim and assemble the sheets.

Rasterbator offers halftone dots and other styles for tiled wall art. Consider it when you want a dot effect; sheets still need joining.

Wide-format prints use larger equipment or a print shop for a single sheet within the printer’s size limits. Choose this when avoiding tiled seams matters most.

BEFORE YOU HIT PRINT

A few good questions.

Is PosterSheet really free?+

Yes. Export your poster and assembly guide without an account, payment, watermarks, or popups.

Does my image get uploaded?+

No. Image processing and PDF generation happen locally in your browser. Closing or reloading the page clears your image.

Can I print a poster on my regular printer?+

Yes. Match the selected paper to your printer. Print single-sided at Actual Size or 100%; Fit to page changes tile dimensions.

Will splitting my photo make it blurry?+

Export preserves decoded image pixels without downsampling. Enlarging a small photo spreads those pixels over a bigger area. Check the live DPI estimate; the tool does not upscale or add detail.

Why are some pages partly white?+

Your image fits without cropping or stretching, leaving white space when proportions differ. Automatic size mode can leave a partly filled final row or column. Check the preview.

How do I join the pages?+

Follow the page numbers, left to right and top to bottom. Trim white margins, align repeated overlap strips, and tape the back. The optional guide shows the assembly map.

How many sheets can I use?+

Up to 100 poster sheets, plus an optional guide page. Manual grids allow 1–20 rows and columns within that total.

Can I print in black and white?+

Yes. Select grayscale in your printer settings. Check one sheet first; colors with similar brightness may become hard to distinguish.

Can I make a block poster on my phone?+

Yes, in a modern mobile browser. Choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP, set the grid, and download your PDF. Convert HEIC photos first.
